After we sent off the Thailand team, the Cambodian Short-Term Mission (STM) team continued with visiting the Home for Girls.

The Home for Girls just moved to this current location in June of this year. The current location is larger and the rent is less expensive than the previous location. It became available just one day before they had to sign the contract for renting the old location. Thank  God for the provision.

The Home for Girls location is in a residential area, and the actual location is being kept secret to protect the girls. The capacity is only for 20 girls. There are many referred cases that they cannot serve due to the capacity limit.

Operating the Home for Girls is very expensive. Since the girls are sexually abused victims, there are many ongoing expenses on top of the normal operating costs, such as security, counseling, trauma therapy, legal fees..etc

Pleroma Home for Girls will continue to support the girls for the long term, even after they leave the home. They have already supported about 150 + girls.

Prayer Items:

  • They have a plan to expand the Home for Girls capacity to 50 girls.

  • They need churches to commit to long-term ongoing support.

We went to the Killing Fields and took a look at the Genocide evidence and memorial. It is really, really sad to see how people can kill that many people in cold blood, especially when the victims are their own people.  Among all the Khmer Rouge leaders, only one admitted the genocide had happened, and that person was a Christian converted by our team member’s friend. He was the only one who showed any remorse for what had happened.
