Sunday Worship in Xing Wang Village
On Sunday, we went to the church in Xing Wang village to worship God together with Akha sisters and brothers. The pickup was stopped at the entrance of the worship hall. The moment we jumped out of the truck, we heard the English worship song Holy Forever playing inside the hall. We were very surprised and moved. PY preached on “worthy of the calling” from 2 Thessalonians 1:1–4, 11–12 to encourage the congregation to stay steadfast and faithful when enduring affliction, to i

Children's Camp at Xing Wang
Xing Wang village is an Akha village. Most of the villagers moved here ten or more years ago from Myanmar, and by the grace of God, 80–90% of the villagers are believers. Before we arrived, many children were already waiting outside the church. When PY started to pray, the children followed him, repeating one sentence at a time. We were so delighted to hear them repeating the prayers. Mei Qin shared that they teach children to pray in this way so they can learn to pray and on

Mae Sai
With a local Thai ID or Myanmar ID, local residents can enter Thailand or Myanmar through the Mae Sai border. Myanmar residents can stay in Thailand for up to one week per entry. They work in Thailand on jobs that Thai people do not want to do. Even during COVID, they still came to work to feed their families. In front of the border, small stores line both sides of the street, selling cloth, street food, jewelry, and various other goods made in China. Many Akha Chinese people

Coworker Retreat
As STM team members, we have observed pastor and coworker couples struggling with ineffective communication in their marriages over the past several years. The STM team feels a strong need in this area, so this year PY decided to provide marriage training during the retreat. On the first evening, every couple was asked to write down one word on paper to describe their current marriage. Many gave beautiful answers such as “peace,” “grace,” and “family,” while only two notes—b

Thanksgiving Day for God’s Healing
The main event on Wednesday is the thanksgiving gathering in church to give thanks to God for healing Pastor Zhang from the mental disorder of bipolar. It is the first time I have seen him dress up so formally in the traditional Akha cloth with silver ornaments on his chest and a red headpiece on his head. Villagers from other churches, former coworkers and friends, and other missionaries have come together to Ba Wo village to attend the great celebration. By this chance, we

Medical Treatment and Visiting Church Members at Ba Wo Village
Dear sisters and brothers, Thank you for your prayers. Rebecca’s cold has fully recovered. She said it was the fastest recovery she’s ever had. Thank you! Praise God for His kindness. We all had a good rest on our first night. The hotel we’re staying in is the same one where Lily and Allen joined us on our very first mission here. When we arrived, we immediately recognized the place — and the memories came flooding back. Lily had been startled by a gecko in her room, and Alle

Landed in Chiang Rai
After a 24-hour-long flight journey with two stops in Taiwan and Bangkok, Rebecca and I finally arrived in Chiang Rai in the late afternoon local time on Nov 3rd. Ken and PY had already landed at noon after a short visit to HK ahead of time. Liu Lee’s flight was delayed by one hour. Wendy CM picked us up in three rounds from the airport to the hotel. She did not want to let us wait at the airport until everyone had landed, considering we needed rest after the long flight. Mer

Thailand Team at Mission Fest
During last year’s Seattle Mission Fest, the team was on a mission trip in Thailand, so we did not have the chance to attend the festival. This year, we are very glad that the entire crew can attend the event together. The Holy Spirit moved in everyone’s hearts and made a way for us to go together. Initially, some of us were committed to different events, but it turned out we were able to attend together. The layout of the host church was like a maze. We looked at the room ma

Final Team Meeting Before Mission Trip
On October 19, 2025, the entire team gathered for our final meeting before departing for the mission trips. The sisters prepared delightful desserts and fruits for the group. Rebecca made sweet red bean sticky rice, Davy creatively prepared a steamed pumpkin filled with pudding in the center, and Rosana shared yellow watermelon likened to pineapple with the group. PY brought immense joy, as always, with jokes that eased everyone and fostered unity. For the Cambodian gospel we

Prayer Requests for Our Teams
Dear Sisters and Brothers, Thank you for showing your care for our short-term mission (STM) teams. We would love for you to visit our blog to view our prayer requests and to pray earnestly for us, holding us fast in the love of Jesus, as that is always needed. This year, we will have two teams heading to the Southeast Asian countries of Thailand and Cambodia. It will be a three-week trip, with one week in Thailand and two weeks in Cambodia. Five people, including PY, Ken Chen
